The united states needs to build upon coal and natural gas resources to expand domestic oil resources. We need to use the potential of both on and off shore to reduce dependence on foreign oil. This will help create more jobs and expand the economy. Also, enforcing the rules and regulations with respect to off shore drilling. Many people say we need to stop drilling all together due to the most recent oil spill, but Sharron Angle believes that that would be overreacting at this critical time. According to Sharron Angle, the oil spill occurred because BP took a high risk approach to drilling and they took short cuts to get the job done. She says that other companies have taken the low risk approach without anything happening. She says that ending the drilling off shores is a bad move to make at this point. That it will take away thousands of jobs that people will be out of if off shore drilling is no longer allowed; and in an already weak economy moe job loses will hurt us even more.

Final Results
The final tallies came in and the winner was decided to be Harry Reid. Angle was expected to win the election because she was in the lead most of the time during the election.
Reid won by just one seat. The senate race came down to just one seat would decide who the majority was in the Senate. Harry Reid won the Senate for the Democrats.
Keeping his seat in the Senate, Reid expressed great gratitude for the win and the Democrats won the Senate by just one person. All fingers were crossed and people were holding their beath until those final ballot numbers came in for the Senate race in Nevada.
The people of the US take time to vote when the polls are ready and there are things that have to fall exactly into place so that everything will run smoothly and go as planned. There are people that work behind the scenes to make all of this possible. There are thousands of people that are working behind the scenes that get everything together. These people have to first get the list of registered voters and make sure that they are really eligible to vote. These people then have to get dates and times for elections to be held. For this, they have to take the time and contact different places to make sure that they can hold polls there. This includes places like schools and churches, these are the main ones but there may be a few others. Now, also after spending the whole year determining that the people on the voting list are eligible to vote and that people are registered properly, they have to design the ballot for every election. The ballot must be clear and understandable. Currently there are no national standards for a ballot, so the creators of the ballot can put the ballot in different languages if need be based on their population of foreign speakers in the area. Voting machines must be found and the ballot has to be created to fit the machine. On Election Day there are several people that are temporarily hired to work the site. These people have to be trained to work the machines properly, storage of the machines and supplies, and the procedures for getting people set up and ready to vote. These days are usually 10 – 15 hours depending on the location. Although there has now been something put out for “early voting” those votes are not counted until the day of the vote. The early voters can put their votes in three weeks before the general voting day; however, votes are not counted until the voting location is closed at the end of the night. At that time, the people working the location have to get the ballots and count the votes for the candidates. Depending on the location, they may or may not have any early votes to count. The reason for doing it at the end of the day is to prevent any leaks on who is in the lead. If there are any suspicions in the votes, they are taken and recounted and possibly given to another group to count just in case to double check the numbers. After the polls are closed, the numbers get released to the public and are updated all night until final numbers are released and the winner is announced.
